Blockchain DevFest Unlock Sponsorship Proposal
Background.
The Blockchain Developer Festival, also shortened as the Blockchain DevFest , is a developer-focused event, is a 2-day virtual and physical event culminating in a hackathon, keynotes, panels, workshops, awards and a dinner party. This conference hosted on the 27th and 28th of June will bring together developers, ambitious students from universities across Africa, visionary founders, investors, VCs, Governments, and accelerators. It’ll be hosted at the National ICT Hub and Motiv in Kampala, Uganda.
There will be a 4 day hackathon that will contain key tracks that align well with the Hosting sponsor’s focus with the final 2 days held physically including a pitch and demo day on 27th June. Builders will submit projects to the tracks selected. Builders are incentivized to find ways to build integrated solutions spanning across technology stacks and verticals to maximize their chances of winning. The conference will take place on 28th where we will have panels, keynotes, round tables and more.

Projected Benefits & Impact.
We aim to amplify Unlock protocol’s visibility and community participation in the Unlock DAO by:-
-
Having more than 100 attendees join the different unlock community social media platforms; discord and X where they can directly get involved and become active contributors.
-
Organise an event session for developers to learn more about Unlock.
-
Running a pilot of computing short course certifications using unlock in all the computer science departments of the 3 mentioned universities above as initial steps of a broader push for adoption of Unlock for certification by different organizations and communities in the region.
-
Have at least 3-5 projects developing on top of Unlock features for the hackathon and all of them will be open sourced.
-
As a way to further increase unlock adoption & usage, we are leveraging partnerships and usage of regional ecosystem infrastructure built on unlock like the ETHRwanda Faucet to help builders get easier reach to resources in the hackathon.
-
Onboarding at least 2 organisations/communities to unlock by setting up unlock-enabled memberships for those in attendance such as the rotaractors , and other developer groups.
-
Working with regional developer circles like Web3 Developer Clubs , EthRwanda community, AyaHQ, and One Dev and to further advance promotion and adoption of Unlock in their developer communities.
-
Enabling/guiding the top 5 creators among the attendees to monetize their communities with NFT Memberships, including setting up a live onboarding demo for them.
-
Free 1:1 onboarding for all projects integrating Unlock.
-
Uploading all the Conference content, starting with the Unlock keynote session, onto our newly created DevFest YouTube channel, where it can be kept for future reference and broader outreach. We will also clip short highlights and transcribe key points into a LinkedIn carousel or tweetstorm.
-
Continuously inviting our community and attendees to feature in all Unlock-related events.
-
Assigning a content creator for the Unlock activities and booth will help create better-focused content that we can use to promote Unlock even post-event.
